The VS20 WAVE Maxi System is Cleaver Scientifics' latest product innovation for large-scale vertical gel electrophoresis. The VS20 WAVE is designed for a wide range of separations, including first and second dimension SDS-PAGE, native, preparative, gradient and high-resolution nucleic acid electrophoresis, as well as capillary tube gel IEF and electroblotting. It is one of the most versatile vertical maxi systems on the market.
With the introduction of an innovative new vertical screw clamping technology within the PAGE insert, only four screws are required to secure up to 20x20cm gels. This gives the VS20 WAVE Maxi the selective advantage of a much faster set-up speed compared to competitor products whose traditional clamping configurations require up to 24 screws to secure just two sheets of glass. In addition, the WAVE's vertical screw clamp configuration distributes pressure evenly across the height of the gel, rather than in the centre, to avoid plate bending and gel compression, yet maintains a leak-free seal during pouring; while the ergonomic, wave-shaped design of the PAGE insert facilitates both handling and set-up.
Whatever your requirements, the WAVE can be designed to meet them. Whether it's 2 or 4 gels, electroblotting and IEF with capillary tube gels or IPG strips, all these techniques can be performed with the same universal unit while retaining the advantages of large format electrophoresis such as greater separation distances, higher sample throughput and higher resolution.
